SARBJIT: Omung Kumar’s Intense and Brooding Biopic Trailer Launched by Aishwarya and Randeep

After proving his mettle as a director with the sport biopic Mary Kom, Omung Kumar unveiled the trailer of Sarbjit with actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda and Richa Chaddha. The biopic entails the gruesome predicament of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer from Punjab who was convicted by a Pakistan court on the grounds of terrorism and the arduous quest for justice amidst murky politics by his sibling Dalbir Kaur. The biopic features Randeep Hooda as Sarbjit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as his sister Dalbir Kaur and Richa Chadda as Sukhpreet Kaur, his wife. The biopic is gripping, intense and promises stellar performances.

The event was graced by the lead actors Aishwarya, Randeep, Richa along with the director Omung Kumar and actor of Mary Kom fame, Darshan Kumaar. Aishwarya looked resplendent in a pastel pink coloured dress. Richa paled in comparison with her blue one shoulder dress but rocked the look with a sleek hairdo. Randeep looked dapper in a crisp white shirt teamed with black trousers and brown blazer.

Speaking about the biopic, Aishwarya said, “We all continue our lives and don't necessarily take a minute out to experience how an incident can completely change the dynamic of family and that 'history cannot go unknown'. About her role, she said, “Dalbir for over 23 years fought for this kind of sibling love and commitment is commendable. This story needed to be told and thank you for bringing it to me.” She also reminisced about her interaction with the real Dalbir Kaur, "I have not spent time with her before the film. I met her for the first time during our first schedule. There is certain physicality that we have brought to. I have not sat and watched everything. We have changed the eyes of the character."

Randeep had reportedly lost an impressive 18 kg in 28 days for his role as the imprisoned Sarbjit.

The biopic is helmed by T-series and is slated to release on May 20.
