Rape – Romance – Suicide – Jiah Khan’s life journey

Jiah Khan was born on February 20, 1988 in New York, and was brought up in London, Chelsea. She studied English literature and Art from MPW in London. The greatest turning point in her life came when Ram Gopal Verma selected her as the lead heroine opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the controversial film ‘Nishabd’. Jiah Khan was born into a Muslim family in New York City and she grew up in London where she completed her Edexcel O and A Level with five As, before moving to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood.

Jiah Khan was raped by an old man in London when she was just fourteen. In an interview, Sooraj Pancholi said, “She told me about her getting abused by her former boyfriends and how an older man had raped her when she was 14 in London and how at one point in her life, she would get only one meal a day”.

In 2004, at the age of 16, Jiah Khan was signed to act in Mukesh Bhatt’s Tumsa Nahin Dekha but backed out when both she and the director felt the role was too mature for her; she was immediately replaced by Dia Mirza

At the age of 18, Jiah Khan made her debut in Ram Gopal Verma’s controversial romantic thriller Nishabd, as Jiah, where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Jiah Khan instantly became one of the most sought after actresses in the industry.

Later, Jiah Khan appeared alongside Aamir Khan and Asin in A.R. Murugadoss’s psychological thriller Ghajini, the Hindi remake of its namesake. She played Sunita, a medical student who investigates the history of Sanjay Singhania, portrayed by Aamir Khan.

Jiah Khan made her last film appearance in a supporting role as Devika K. Samtani, the ex-wife of Akshay Kumar’s character, in Sajid Khan’s Housefull also alongside Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone and Lara Dutta in 2010.

Sooraj Pancholi was allegedly in a live-in relationship with Jiah Khan. Jiah Khan was not happy with Sooraj Pancholi’s behaviour. He used to torture and abuse her everyday.

Jiah Khan committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at around 11:45 pm in a bedroom of her Juhu residence in Mumbai on Monday, 3 June 2013, when her mother Rabiya and sister Kavita were not at home. ( READ ALSO : JIAH KHAN'S LAST LETTER TO SOORAJ PANCHOLI )

Jiah Khan in her last letter to Sooraj had blamed him for all the pain and heartbreak she went through. She felt that he was not as committed towards her as she was.
