SAIRAT Regales Its Booming Success With A Bang!!!

Sairat, the critically acclaimed and tipped to be the highest grossing movie in the history of Marathi film industry by the National award-winning filmmaker Nagaraj Manjule is a doomed love story featuring a host of newcomers including the unknown lead pair – Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru – who stunned audiences and critics alike with their performances. Sairat is a tempering story about an upper class girl, who falls in love with a boy from a lower caste and the ensuing love travails.

The Sairat team is being feted not just for its portrayal of an inter-caste couple in love and the reality of caste violence, but for its sensitive depiction of its female protagonist. “Sairat is Archie’s story. The hero, Parshya, is secondary,” Manjule quoted in a recent interview.

The latest buzz is that several Southie production houses are mulling over the idea of remaking the critically-acclaimed film with the popular producer Rockline Venkatesh having acquired the rights for remake in all the four southern languages. He will be jointly producing the southern remakes with the producers of the original and they’ll soon start working on the Kannada version.

The Sairat team recently regaled their booming accomplishment amidst a gala affair with presence of some noted Marathi celebs like Sachin Pilgaonkar, music director duo Ajay and Atul Gogavale, Mahesh Manjrekar, Hrishitaa Bhatt ,Urmila Kanitkar, Amruta Subhash and Amruta Khanvilkar.
