Sonam Kapoor's Workout Regime Will Give You Serious Fitness Goals!

Yes she is known as the fashionista of Bollywood, but would her edgy style of dressing compliment Sonam Kapoor without the svelte figure that she flaunts today? From weighing 90 kilos during her college days to looking gorgeously slim, Sonam has come a long way. And during her endeavour of maintaining a fabulous body throughout, it is her fitness guru Radhika Karle who has always been with her.


Well no, Radhika wasn’t a part of Sonam’s life during her weight loss spree. It is only four years ago that she came on board as the actress’s trainer. Though Radhika did not deal with Sonam’s obesity, it was instead the actress’s lanky body that she had to take care of. “At that time, Sonam was being cured for typhoid. She had lost all her strength so my aim was to get her a good healthy body and work on her stamina.”


And thus, Radhika kick started her training as Sonam was getting ready for Raanjhanaa. The main aim of the former being, getting Sonam in shape as per the character requirements in films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Khoobsurat, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Neerja among others.


While that being on the professional front, personally Radhika wanted to realign Sonam’s posture. She explains, “Sonam is tall woman and generally tall people have the tendency of hunching (their shoulders) forward. They also have long legs and long hands and these long limbs causes hyper mobility. Because of such physique of hers she was nicknamed giraffe. So, I really wanted to work on getting a good posture for her.”

For the same, Radhika introduced Sonam to some good and effective Pilates and cardio routines. Thus, for seven days a week, the actress practices the two routines every morning and evening. “Every morning Sonam does Pilates for 45 minutes and in the evening she does cardio for an hour,” says her fitness trainer.


Apart from the workout, it is the diet that Sonam keeps a check on. Sharing her balanced diet, Radhika says, “For breakfast Sonam has poha or upma. Followed by lunch in which she prefers having quinoa with vegetables and for dinner she has some veggies with rice.”   

Currently, Radhika is prepping up Sonam for her Cannes Film Festival appearance and will also be flying along with the actress to the French Rivera. Come May 15 and 16, Sonam will be seen walking the red carpet at the glamorous do. “She will be flaunting these beautiful outfits and I just want her look to get enhanced by her picture perfect body. My motto is, one, to get her look leaner and two, to get her energy levels up,” she signs off.
