Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the first choice for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine. The director even said “Aishwarya was a perfect choice for the role. In fact, no one could’ve played it better”. But her unexpected pregnancy made her opt out of the film in the production stage. Reportedly, there was a huge spat between the actress and the filmmaker as the project was announced amid much fanfare at 64th Cannes Film Festival. However, the role finally went to Kareena Kapoor who did a wonderful job and emerged as the ultimate Heroine.

2003 Bollywood movie starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji was box office ‘hit’. Initially Rani Mukherjee was asked to play the heroine but she was committed to other films and had to turn it down. Aishwarya Rai was signed for the role, but her ex- boyfriend Salman Khan create a ruckus on the sets and broke into a big fight with SRK, it became impossible to shoot the film. As a result, Aishwarya was finally replaced by Rani who was then agreed to take over the role.
