Dil Toh Pagal Hai Turns 18: 10 things you probably didn't know about the movie

Yash Chopra’s epic romance ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ completes 18 years today which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor in lead roles also Akshay Kumar in a supporting role. The film depicts the love lives of the dancers in a musical dance troupe. Here we bring to you some facts about the film we bet you didn’t know.

1. The music album of this film was the biggest hit of the year 1997 and of Yash Chopra’s entire career.

2. Shahid Kapoor made a cameo as a background dancer in Dil Toh Pagal Hai. He was one of the background dancers behind Karisma Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan.

3.It was the third film to feature Shah Rukh Khan opposite Madhuri Dixit.

4. Karisma Kapoor’s role in film was offered to five actresses who rejected the offer. The actresses were Juhi Chawla, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Raveena Tandon and Kajol

5. Sridevi was the first choice for Madhuri Dixit’s role but turned the role down because of her marriage to Boney Kapoor.

6. Dil To Pagal Hai was the first and only film in which Karisma Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan were casted against each other. Later, In 2003 they were seen together in ‘Shakti’ in which Shah Rukh Khan made a cameo appearance.

7. The decision of playing the second lead that Karisma Kapoor took fetched her the National Award for her work as Nisha and the best actress in a supporting role award at the Filmfare.

8. Akshay Kumar and Madhuri Dixit worked for the first time in Dil Toh Pagal Hai.

9. Earlier the film was named variously as ‘Maine To Mohabbat Kar Li’ and ‘Mohabbat Kar Le’.

10. Yash Chopra rejected 54 dresses which was created by Manish Malhotra for Madhuri Dixit’s character before approving for simple salwar kameez.
