A one-night stand for ex-lovers Ranbir and Deepika? Na, here's what's new

Trust Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, when under Imtiaz Ali's guidance, to introduce new concepts to people. With Tamasha, ex-lovers Ranbir and Deepika are engendering something called a 'One-Holiday Stand'... yes, along the lines of a one-night stand, but not quite the same.

The Imtiaz Ali film features Ved (played by Ranbir) and Tara (played by Deepika) setting out to explore a new place. When on this vacation, the two don't walk the routine way of meeting each other, falling in love, followed by falling apart. What they do, instead, is give their viewers a one-holiday stand.

Ranbir and Deepika's on-screen characters plan to conceal every bit of their identity, play roles, have a lot of fun, with absolutely no strings attached. The hitch, however, is that the two are not to look for each other ever again, once the vacation is over.

From the moment the trailer of Tamasha was released, curiosity levels of viewers have seen a raise. In the trailer too, Ved and Tara are seen vowing to speak only lies to each other, about each other when in Croatia. Ranbir and Deepika's introduction scene in the trailer has the former saying he's 'Don', and the latter, 'Mona Darling', reminding viewers of the iconic characters from the cult film Don.

While the one-holiday stand might be unique to Tamasha, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has dabbled with out-of-the-way tactics for his films for a while now. You'd know what we're talking about if you've watched his 2009 film Love Aaj Kal. The Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone-starrer popularised something called 'break-up parties'.

In Tamasha, break-ups are things of the past. Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has moved beyond one-night stands and gone on to speak about one-holiday stands. And for all you know, thanks to Ranbir and Deepika, Tamasha might end up doing to one-holiday stands what Love Aaj Kal had done to break-up parties back in 2009.

Ex-lovers Ranbir and Deepika are reuniting on the silver screen after the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Back in 2013, director Ayan Mukerji had pulled off a casting coup of sorts when he roped in the two exes as the lead characters of his film. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was Ranbir and Deepika's second film together, after the 2008 Bachna Ae Haseeno. And given the fact that it was their first film together after the much-in-the-public-eye break-up, viewers flocked to the theatres to see Ranbir and Deepika on the big screen.

The two scorched the screens, and have now been re-cast together in a film. Tamasha has already managed to wow viewers with the on-screen chemistry that Ranbir and Deepika share in it. Come November 27, the box office too will pass its verdict on the exes: whether or not the pair is still a hit. As of now, as far as popular notion is concerned, Ranbir and Deepika are quite the jodi to watch out for, and their on-screen one-holiday stand might just catapult them higher.
