When Salman Khan 'flirted' with Bhagyashree on the sets of ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’

The golden girl, Bhagyashree, who won a millions heart by her sweet and docile act as Suman in ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ exactly 25 years ago, shared many interesting incidents of working with Salman Khan with a popular newspaper in a recent interview.

While shooting for MPK, Salman had learned via a common friend that Bhagyashree is dating Himalaya. However, the actress was oblivious of Salman’s newly gathered information.

So, while shooting for the song “Dil Deewana”, Salman would often pull Bhagyashree’s leg by murmuring “Dil Deewana” into her ears. Such pranks made her think “We’ve shot for so long and this guy’s never flirted with me… so what’s wrong with him now?” recalls Bhagyashree with a hearty laugh.

Ruffled with Salman’s attempts, Bhagyashree finally decided to talk it out with him on one fine day. “I took him aside and told him that there was press on set and I didn’t want people to think there was something on between us,” she recounted to the daily.

And Salman surprised her saying, “‘I’m not doing it for myself… I know all about Himalayaji!”

When asked if Salman continues to be the same person as he was 25 years back, Bhagyashree said that she will always think of Salman very fondly.

Bhagyashree had another interesting incident to share with the daily. She recalled how she broke down into tears while shooting for a hug sequence after the song “Kabootar Ja”. For a girl like her belonging to a conservative family, hugging Salman in the film, while he is shown returning home from the conference just after the song, was intimidating.

“I burst into tears and I had Salman and Sooraj ji sitting at my feet and saying: ‘Don’t cry… do whatever you feel comfortable. You want to wait a while?’ They were both very sweet. But I realised that I was getting so conscious that even Salman was getting conscious. So, I did the scene and the rawness in it actually helps because even Prem and Suman are awkward getting together the first time,” told Bhagyashree to the Telegraph India.

And in the times when the trend of remakes is fast picking up, Bhagyashree was asked which actors are suitable to play Suman and Prem if MPK is remade. In her own words, Varun Dhawan would make a good Prem whereas Alia Bhatt or Shraddha Kapoor have the inherent innocence to play Suman.
